My process is simple—I define, build, and deploy. I adapt as needed, ensuring that you’re always involved.
DEFINE (Pre-Production)
Brainstorming, Web Design and/or Logo Questionnaires, Data Gathering, Site Outline Finalization
We begin by defining what you want, and what you need. Don’t worry if you only have a general idea at this point. I’ve been doing this for more 20 years, so you can be assured you’re in good hands. I’ll ask you a series of questions, and clarify your answers if needed. This comprehensive pre-production questionnaire IS pretty long, but I do hope you’ll find the time to answer it. Because the more specific you are, the easier it will be for me to give you the design you want.
How long this phase takes depends on how much time you can dedicate to answering my queries and clarifications. But once I have all the info I need, we move on to the next phase.
BUILD (Production)
Design Finalization, System Analysis, Back-end / CMS Development, Custom Module Development, Testing and Debugging
From the information you provide me, I’ll create the design concepts for you. When done, I send you JPEG previews of the mock-ups. You pick from the design concepts (if more than one), and then you give me your feedback. I implement the revisions within 1-3 days (depending on the complexity of your requests), and send them back to you. If I don’t need to do any more changes, I begin coding your website.
Not including revision requests, here’s a breakdown of my Production schedule:
Creation of Mock-ups (logo / website) — 14-28 business days
Main Template Encoding (HTML/CSS/jQuery) — 14-28 business days
WordPress Integration — 7-14 business days
Debugging — 3-5 business days
In an ideal world, you can technically have a website done in less than a month. While life isn’t perfect (things, specifically revisions, happen), this will give you an idea of my typical Production schedule.
IMPORTANT NOTE: My timeline is much longer now (particularly for the mock-up creation) due to the fact that I’ve been opting to illustrate my own graphics more.
DEPLOY (Post-Production)
Website Launching, Client Feedback, Website CMS Training, Maintenance and Support
When everything’s done and you’ve settled your final billing, it’s time for site deployment! If your website is hosted with me, this shouldn’t take long. But if you’re hosted elsewhere, I usually allot at least 3 days for deployment to be sure everything is running smoothly. Once we’re good to go, feel free to tell everyone about your new website 🙂
